There are some lovely hotels and resorts in Papeete and the last time I visited I spent a night either side of my Moorea holiday here at the newly renovated and totally gorgeous Le Meridien.
If you’re looking for an overwater bungalow (of course you are), a private sandy beach (there aren’t many in Papeete so this is quite unique), a huge swimming pool (2000sqm), 2 restaurants and a bar and less than 1km (an easy walk) to the Tahiti Museum, you’ll love this place.
I took my camera and Isabelle from the hotel management showed me through the overwater bungalow and L’Atelier, their artists in residence working studio.

Our room – before we messed it up with our luggage. The balcony looks over the pool and sea to the bungalows where the lucky honeymooners are making out

This junior suite was our room for the last night in Tahiti. Shame we had a 4am departure to return to NZ!

L’Atelier is a working artist studio is on the 6th floor of the hotel where guests can meet painters and sculptors and buy their work
